Ringwaves

A re-imagining of a piece I did in 2015.

Saturn's tiny moon Daphnis orbits within a clearing in the rings known as the Keeler gap. As it bobs up and down ever so slightly in its orbit, its gravity tugs on the nearby ring particles, raising them into towering waves of ice and dust that can cast dramatic shadows on the rings.
